Digital Rain Maker
The History of Where Creativity Rains
In the late summer, early fall of 1998,
the first Ones and Zeros began to fall for Digital Rain. For myself,
Rodney Myers, those "drops" were a little idea that permeated
my mind until they puddled together. I have spent years in Video
Production, but becoming dissatisfied with a future that would I
would always be working for someone. The contacts that I made had
given me a taste of Freelance Life, the kind of life where you always
work for yourself.
Besides persistence, the most important
tool to have when you run your own business is flexibility. Digital
Rain, llc was begun to create and deliver video to Internet, Intranet,
CD-ROM, and DVD Viewers. This idea came when most people's home
connections were not "up to speed" for video delivery.
It seemed video on the interent was coming, but not as fast as expected.
The digital raindrops began to blow in a new direction.
In August of 2000, discussion began on a
new project, one that was fitting for a struggling small business.
After weeks of discussion and scriptwriting, in March of 2001, principle
videography for the "Live Your Dreams" Project was on
its way. By August of that same year, Michelle Venturella's "Live
Your Dreams", a fundamental, instructional Hitting and Softball
Video had been completed, and ready for sale.
The Live Your Dreams project led to the
production of a "Tech Video" for the Louisville Slugger
Company, promoting the sales of its softball products through education
of its re-sellers. The project was produced in the spring and early
summer on 2002.
Meanwhile, on the Internet side, Digital
Rain, llc created, and still maintains the web site for the Indianapolis
Chapter of Cruiser Club, USA. A Family oriented motorcycle riding
club. We also kept on Video becoming more and more previalent on
the internet, but still reserved for "high end" work.
The facilities of Digital Rain, llc have
also expanded, with the recent addition of a Matrox Digisuite Edit
System, and a Panasonic DVCPro Deck, available for rent.
While waiting for the likes of YouTube,
Facebook, and MySpace to revolutionize Social Media and Video online,
Rodney Myers put his talents to work Directing Cummins Engines,
Inc's Global Broadcasts. Co-Producing an Indiana Music Television
Pilot called "In Tune". Developing an Award Winning Motorcycle
Travel Show Pilot, "Two
Wheel Travels". Other projects came along such as SouthEast
Neighborhood Development's 20th
Anniversary Video.
In April of 2007, Rodney decided that there
was enough business out there for Digital Rain to become a full
time effort. After 14 years of working at the local PBS Affiliate,
he tendered his resignation. Hitting the ground running, Rodney
developed his videography skills working for Indianapolis Public
Schools and Taskmasters, Inc. One of these projects was the Reaching
for Tomorrow Field
Day Video.
Here it is, the Fall of 2009, and the close
of Digital Rain, llc's Tenth Year. It has been a full time effort
now for two and half years. Video is commonplace on the web, and
becoming a neccessary for every web site. The storm has come full
circle, and Digital Rain is set to release ThatsMyCity.tv, an Internet
Television Channel. I am sure you will be hearing more about this
in the near future!
What is in store for Digital Rain, llc's
second decade? Stay tuned to our web site and find out. I am sure
I will be adding more info here!
